Joshua Yabut, a co-founder of the ZClassic (ZCL) digital currency, faces criminal charges after stealing a military armored vehicle from the Fort Pickett military base in Virginia, where he was serving. It was business as usual in Fort Pickett as soldiers were in the middle of a routine exercise when Mr. Yabut decided to spice things up and go onto a little joyride of his own.
Reportedly, he managed to evade capture for over two hours and travel 60 miles before finally surrendering and getting arrested. The vehicle was not equipped with any weapons but Mr. Yabut had his own personal weapon with no ammunition on board.
Official reports allege he was under influence of drugs at the time of arrest, a claim which Mr. Yabut strongly denied, saying “That’s a big ‘NO’ with capital letters.” However, the crypto aficionado has posted numerous curious tweets in the hours preceding the incident, such as the following:
what i learned in the army is to never volunteer for anything with that being said im looking for a few volunteers

He also dropped a not-so-subtle hint about his plan, tweeting a Google Map with the Virginia State Capital and a Wikipedia article screenshot on the armored personnel carrier.

Finally, after boarding the tank he made sure that the world could see his adventures from the front row, as he posted numerous photos, videos and, of course, a selfie from the vehicle, confessing his love for the Wu-Tang Clan.

Law enforcement institution have declined to comment on the incident as of yet, waiting until the initial investigation is over.
Major General Timothy P. Williams, the adjutant general of Virginia, said that, “We are extremely grateful that there were no injuries as a result of this incident, and we appreciate the great work of the Virginia State Police, Richmond Police Department and other law enforcement and first responders who safely brought this situation to a close.“
ZClassic was born as a result of a hard fork from the original blockchain of ZCash. However, things went nothing short of catastrophic for ZClassic immediately after the fork as the ZCL price plummeted by an eye-watering 97%. On the other hand, ZCash has remained relatively stable, trading around $230 at press time.
