Malta Cements Its Reputation As ‘Blockchain Island’ Another Major Blockchain Event

Geplaatst op oktober 27, 2018 door Blockchain News

After the successful DELTA Summit in October, the Government of Malta has endorsed another major blockchain event in an effort to solidify its growing reputation as a technology hub.

The Malta Blockchain Summit is scheduled for the 1st and 2nd of November. Hosted at three hotels spread across St. Julian’s, the event is expected to attract over 5000 delegates, world-class speakers, 300 exhibitors and thousands of blockchain developers and investors from across the world.

Malta’s Prime Minister Joseph Muscat uploaded a YouTube video to officially invite guests and developers to the event. In the video Muscat says Malta’s economic success has been propelled by transparent regulations and enterprising business leaders. “Now we are charting the way forward in distributed ledger technology,” he said in the video. “Leading stakeholders are choosing Malta to host high-level international events, which will pave the way for further investment. One such event is the Malta Blockchain Summit…I look forward to meeting you then.”

Prime Minister Muscat is also one of the most noteworthy keynote speakers at the event. Other prominent speakers include John McAfee, co-founder of the McAfee crypto team, Jon Matonis, founder of the Bitcoin Foundation, and Sunny Dhillon, partner at Signia Venture Partners. Visitors can also expect another exciting keynote address from Sophia Bot, the AI citizen from Hanson Robotics who addressed the United Nations last year. Besides the exhibitions, keynote speeches, and workshops, visitors can also sign up for a blockchain hackathon or ICO pitch battle.

Malta’s second official blockchain event is a clear signal that the country has broken with the international consensus on distributed ledger technology and is willing to embrace innovation on a grand scale. With three new bills recently introduced to make managing blockchain projects easier and regulating ICOs, Malta’s mega events are yet another way to welcome entrepreneurs, developers, and investors from this burgeoning sector.
