On 31st July, Coinsquare, a cryptocurrency trading platform, announced on Twitter that they have listed XRP on their platform for trading. However, they also noted that this feature was in its beta version, with withdrawals not currently available.
The distinguishable features of the beta launch include being able to fund one’s account with XRP and buy the currency using fiat or cryptocurrency. Users will also be able to trade XRP for fiat or other cryptocurrencies.

Users are required to exchange the XRP for Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH] or fiat currency first before making the withdrawal. Nevertheless, the Coinsquare team stated that they are doing all they can to make XRP withdrawals possible.
Coinsquare also added that during the beta launch, users cannot directly withdraw any XRP. Their official Medium blog stated:
“If you experience issues or notice a bug, let us know by submitting a support ticket through your account.”
Coinsquare said:
“While we’re excited about this launch, we also recognize it’s been a long wait, and we want to apologize for the delays and lack of communication. We appreciate everyone’s patience with us and commit to doing better going forward.”
Coinsquare is one of the latest exchange platforms to adopt XRP. Other major exchange platforms that have launched XRP as their base pair are Bitrue [Taiwanese Exchange] and DCEX [cryptocurrency marketplace]. TransferGo [payment remittance service company] and Wirex app also recently announced the addition of XRP on their platforms.
While making XRP deposits into one’s Coinsquare account, users are required to enter their deposit address along with their unique ‘tag’ that is specific to XRP. The team has warned users that entering the incorrect tag or forgetting to enter it during the funding process would result in the loss of XRP.
Twitterati, YassinMobarak commented:
“Great news @Coinsquare! Thank you!! Does this mean $XRP will be a “base currency” in your exchange? Please say yes :).”
Another Twitter user, Charlie_Crypto_ said:
“If you had the faster cheaper XRP as a base pair then there wouldn’t be a need to make an additional trade (fee) out of the slow and costly BTC to XRP. please reconsider for your users, this is what we want!.”
EricVailNaylor2 added:
“Bye bye @coinbase you had your chance @CoinbaseSupport, Ripple is the wave of the future @CKJCryptonews.”
