Tron [TRX]’s next office to be in India? Justin Sun reveals expansion plans

Geplaatst op juli 31, 2018 door Blockchain News

In an interview on 31st July, Tron [TRX] founder Justin Sun stated that he is looking to expand the start-up’s operations. This comes after the company opened an office in San Francisco earlier this year, which pushed the count to 400 employees on its payroll. The next move for the expansion might come as a surprise to many, as Sun revealed that the office would be situated in India.

Last year, Tron’s ICO came just before the Chinese government completely banned ICOs from occurring. As many know, the ICO raised close to $70 million, with funds raised from investors in China returned to them. On this, Sun said in an interview with South China Morning Post:

“It’s better for the industry. Most firms followed the ruling from the government. It didn’t trigger anything bad, if there had been a financial risk then it [the ban] would have solved it. It’s [the clampdown] taken the heat off [the market]. It’s now more sensible.”

Recently, Tron was in the news for its acquisition of Bittorent and the subsequent launch of what Sun calls Project Atlas. This taps into the 180 million users of Bittorent, adding an established brand for future expansion of the Tron platform. On this, Sun announced:

“Starting from today, Tron will enter a new phase of expanding our current ecosystem. We are grateful for what we have achieved in the past and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us.”

Reportedly, Tron is relying on another app based on the blockchain, known as Peiwo, for profit. Justin Sun views the Snapchat-like mobile application as an opportunity to gain capital for more important projects. The app has about 10 million active users.

At the beginning of this year, Sun was known for picking fights on Twitter with the creator of Ethereum [ETH], Vitalik Buterin. He posted a list of reasons as to why Tron was better than Ethereum, and Vitalik responded with:

“8. Better white paper writing capability (Ctrl+C + Ctrl+V much higher efficiency than keyboard typing new content)”

Sun mentioned this in the interview, stating:

“We wrote the whitepaper ourselves. The document was amended to correct a translation error and I had reached out to offer an explanation to the blockchain community. We didn’t deliberately copy the work of others.”

The CEO also spoke about the rumors that began propagating in January of this year that Sun was orchestrating an exit scam. It was reported that he disappeared with 6 billion TRX tokens after it hit a high of $0.23. He stated:

“It was a nervous time and it brought some speculation. It was a rumour set up by a competitor who paid for a reporter to make up [a story].

Not many Tronix, as Sun likes to call his supporters, know that he began setting up a blockchain based company in 2013. The company, called Raybo, is now a part of the Tron ecosystem as a strategic partner. It is focused on building blockchain solutions for companies. Looking back, Sun stated:

“It was too early for China back then [when it comes to blockchain]. For a while the company had a hard time. The worst for me was when I borrowed US$700,000 and struggled to repay it. The company was that close to collapse.”
