William Ward, a Litecoin and Tron enthusiast pointed out that Satoshi Nakamoto, whose identity remains unknown, mentioned of BitTorrent in one of his mailing lists. Satoshi mentioned that for transferrable PoW token to have a monetary value, it must be transferred within a large network. He quotes BitTorrent as an example for a large network.
Tron Foundation recently acquired BitTorrent, a leading software company. BitTorrent currently has over 150 million users which led to Tron declaring itself as one of the ‘largest decentralized Internet ecosystems in the world’.
BitTorrent is currently a part of Tron’s Project Atlas. The project is all set to improve the BitTorrent protocol by making it faster and lengthen the lifespan of BitTorrent swarms. Project Atlas roadmap for the next three months is set-up by the Tron team and more details regarding the project are going to be announced on 31st August 2018.
According to Justin Sun, Project Atlas is going enable Tron to surpass Ethereum to become the most influential blockchain platform around the globe. Tron is also going to improve BitTorrent’s Altruism. It is going to create new possibilities for global payments and online content.
Peter Moller Hansen, a Twitterati says:
“It seems like good old Mr. Sun didn’t know that Satoshi had mentioned BitTorrent until now. Otherwise he would surely have used that as PR. But that doesn’t change the fact that it is pretty cool”
Perogies, a Redditor says:
“Welllll, he mentioned Bittorrent once over 10 years ago.. Not really sure that qualifies but whatever. But hey, maybe that’s what inspired Justin to buy it.”
Adrianlambertz, another Redditor says:
“SCAM!!!! even this idea is stolen…. lol just kidding
go tron!”
To which JohnPNjui says:
“Ideas are borrowed. Then again, in a global population of 8 Billion, one idea could have been on the mind of several people at one moment in time. Some act upon the ideas…others sleep on them.”
