LinkedIn, the leading business social media service provider, released the list of top 50 startups which are most sought after in the United States. Along with other companies, the list includes cryptocurrency startups such as Coinbase, Gemini, Ripple, Robinhood, and ConsenSys, marking the expansion of the space.
Coinbase, headquartered in San Francisco is one of the leading cryptocurrency exchange platforms around the world. The firm was founded by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam in June 2012. Coinbase is the top cryptocurrency startup on the list, ranking on the 3rd position.
The firm has witnessed a massive expansion since its inception, with over 500 employees at present. Moreover, the company is expected to double its employee strength by the end of this year. Coinbase is the biggest cryptocurrency exchange platform in the world in terms of accounts, more than 20 million, which is double than that of Charles Schwab Corporation, one of the largest banks in the United States.
In addition, Coinbase has a wide range of products which are offered to the people in the cryptocurrency space. The exchange platform offers services for Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETC], Litecoin [LTC], Bitcoin Cash [BCH], and Ethereum Classic [ETC] along with USD pairs.
Along with this, the other mainstream services include Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime, previously part of GDAX, Coinbase Wallet, and Coinbase Custody.
Coinbase on their Twitter handle stated:

The next on the line after Coinbase is Robinhood, a brokerage firm which initially started off for stocks and stepped into the cryptocurrency space earlier this year. The firm took the whole space by storm after they announced that they would be providing services for cryptocurrency at zero commission.
There are a total of six cryptocurrencies listed on the platform. They started by providing services for Bitcoin [BTC] and Ethereum [ETH] and added other cryptocurrencies over time. This includes Ethereum Classic [ETC], Litecoin [LTC], Bitcoin Cash [BCH] and Dogecoin [DOGE].
Robinhood announced on Twitter:

Ripple, one of the most controversial company in the cryptocurrency space, has also made it to the list. The company is ranked on the seventh position, right after Robinhood. Ripple stepped into the cryptocurrency space with the aim to disrupt the finance sector and revolutionize the payment and transactions method around the globe.
The company launched XRP, a real-time gross settlement system, currency exchange, and a remittance network, which is now the third biggest cryptocurrency in the world. The technologies built on top of the XRP ledger is going to create a pathway for institutions, banks and governments to accelerate the nature of transactions.

Gemini, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchange platform in the space is also listed under the top 50 startups for 2018, is placed on the 25th position. The Founders of the Gemini, Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, popularly known as the Winklevoss brothers, are noted to be the world’s first Bitcoin [BTC] billionaires.
The exchange platform has been the limelight for the past few months because of the Bitcoin ETF. The firm has been trying to get the approval for a proposed rule change from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission [SEC] since 2017. However, the SEC rejected the proposed rule change in order to offer the Bitcoin ETF twice, stating the reason of manipulation in the cryptocurrency market.
Cameron Winklevoss, the Founder of Gemini said:

The last cryptocurrency startup to star on the list is ConsenSys, which is on the 26th rank. ConsenSys is a blockchain software technology company based on the Ethereum blockchain. It was founded by the Joseph Lubin, the Co-Founder of Ethereum.
The company has had several partnerships since its inception. This includes Amazon Web Services, GlaxoSmithKline and the Worldlife Fund. Moreover, there are over 900 employees working in the blockchain company.
