“What we saw was the introduction of probably the most amazing marketing ploy I’ve ever witnessed in my life, which was the shift of talking about this technology like Bitcoin to talking about blockchain technology.”
He added that Bitcoin had become a “dirty word” which was used in scams and to purchase illegitimate products on the Silk Road. There was a shift from discussions on Bitcoin to Blockchain technology which is a distributed database structure that allows for the frictionless exchange of a value. He added:
“This was a really important shift as it allowed firms like IBM large banks to start to dip their toes into this space that would come off limits after Mount Gox imploded.”

Samir Vasavada, CEO and Co-Founder of Vise AI, an Artificial Intelligence-driven portfolio research platform, shared his views on the cryptocurrency market and how Bitcoin [BTC] was not the only topic of discussion in the cryptocurrency space.
Samir stated that when he entered into the cryptocurrency market he expected it to be surrounded by a large number of individuals whose sole interest in the cryptocurrency space was Bitcoin. On the contrary, he noticed that the cryptocurrency community was surrounded by members of the financial technology platform in general and not only by a group of Bitcoin entrepreneurs.
He added that these Fintech giants were typically interested in developing the startups and companies within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Samir, the “entrepreneur-In-Residence” at several Venture Funds further stated that he took this chance to gain further insights into the cryptocurrency space. He further added that he was surrounded by a group of really smart and interesting people who were also living interesting lives. He used this as a “launch pad” to initially grow his network in the Silicon Valley. Samir added:
