Recently, Zebpay, one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchange platforms in India announced that they are shutting down their exchange platform. This led to a lot of distress in the Indian cryptocurrency community. They asserted the reason to be the problems caused by the regulatory bodies and financial institutions in the country.
However, Bitbns, another leading Indian cryptocurrency exchange platform has stepped forward and asked the customers of Zebpay to not fret over the announcement. This was followed by them asking the customers to join their exchange platform. In addition, the exchange platform stated that the day has been marked a “bad day” for the whole Indian cryptocurrency industry and traders because of Zebpay’s announcement.
They said on their official blog post:
“We at Bitbns, understand the plight of hundreds of thousands of cryptocurrency holders and traders in this unfortunate hour, and that is why we are here to help Zebpay users migrate their funds to Bitbns.”
Moreover, Bitbns has announced a special offer for all the customers shifting from Zebpay onto their platform. The platform has claimed to refund the withdrawal fees charged by the Zebpay on selected tokens. In order to receive the withdrawal fees, customers are required to keep all the migrated funds on the exchange platform for at least a week.
Crypto Investor, a Twitterati said:
“So cool !! This is how, intelligent guys come to rescue when someone (Zebpay users) needs support badly.
@bitbns no doubts #1 exchange in India.”
Earlier this year, the Reserve Bank of India [RBI] banned Bitcoin [BTC] and other cryptocurrencies in the country. The bank stated that they constantly warned cryptocurrency traders, holders and users of the risks associated with virtual currencies. This was followed by the bank exclaiming they would no longer deal with cryptocurrencies.
According to the circular issued by the RBI, all the banks functioning under the central bank would not be allowed to provide services to individuals and businesses dealing with or settling cryptocurrencies. They further stated that regulated entities providing such services should exit their relationship with cryptocurrencies. This rule has been imposed since the beginning of this month.
This was followed by the majority of cryptocurrency firms approaching the Supreme Court to rule a decision on RBI’s stance on cryptocurrencies. The hearing on digital currency is scheduled to take place early next week.
